*Philip C. Ayers is a Brooklyn-based painter and illustrator whose work incorporates vibrant colors to depict mundane, idyllic images and environments. The playful approach to his creative practice is undeniably inspired by a youth spent skateboarding and surfing, two activities that, to this day, remain integral to his weekly routine and good mental health while living in NYC. In addition to his artwork, Philip works as a Brand Manager at Pilgrim Surf + Supply and oversees an art space in Brooklyn called The Over Under Room. His design for the “Volcom Featured Artist Series,” while seemingly lighthearted, is a serious reminder of the threats brought on by coastal development and the relentless offshore drilling taking place in New York City and around the world.
